Renewable Energy Act 2016 Edit
The Renewable Energy Act of 2016 was the first act that was proposed by the Ecology party. It would enforce that at least 40% of the government's energy budget be spent on renewable energy projects.
The House of Representative vote was as follows:
|Social Democratic Party*||33||8||25|
The Act passed in the House of Representatives and so was sent to the Senate for confirmation
The Senate vote was as follows:
|Social Democratic Party*||5||5|
The Act was passed in the Senate and so was sent to the President's desk for signing or vetoing.
President Rutherford decided to veto the bill, saying that it was simply "impossible" to achieve, with the cost "outweighing any possible positives". This solidified the Ecology Party and the People's Party into a coalition against the Social Democrats, leading to their unification in late 2016 into one party: the Republican Party.
